New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (NOENMCC) has been recognized by Hospitality Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top Event Venue Services 2026,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the Hospitality Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Elaine Williams, Chief Commercial Officer.
Elaine Williams, Chief Commercial OfficerAt the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (NOENMCC), event delivery depends on more than meeting rooms and exhibit halls. Its people bring the venue’s facilities, services and the character of New Orleans together around what each organizer wants to achieve.
That approach reflects New Orleans’ identity as a city built to host, where hospitality is part of the culture. NOENMCC begins by listening to each organizer’s priorities, whether they aim to grow in attendance, improve accessibility, advance sustainability or create networking opportunities.
“When we do our job well, the customer doesn’t really feel the complexity behind it. Their experience should simply be an event that’s seamless, professional and welcoming,” says Elaine Williams, Chief Commercial Officer.
Sales, event services, production, technology, food and beverage and guest services coordinate around each event’s requirements. Rather than leave organizers to navigate separate departments, NOENMCC brings teams together to help deliver a seamless experience.
New Orleans’ hospitality, culture, music and food give planners a distinctive sense of place. The walkable area around the center offers access to hotels and restaurants, with 26,000 hotel rooms nearby. During Super Bowl LIX in February 2025, NOENMCC hosted the Super Bowl Experience, media operations and credentialing, with attendees able to walk between the center, the Superdome and surrounding venues.
Shaping Events around Client Needs
Flexibility has become central to how NOENMCC accommodates changing attendee needs. Recharge areas give participants space to step away, reconnect and return to an event, while an outdoor park allows clients to hold sessions and concerts beyond traditional meeting rooms and exhibit halls. These options support varied event formats as planners respond to expectations around technology, accessibility and sustainability.
Accommodating an event also means coordinating the services that support it beyond the convention center. NOENMCC works with New Orleans & Company, the city’s destination marketing and sales organization, to connect planners with hotels, restaurants, venues, transportation providers and destination management companies. Established as an economic engine for New Orleans and Louisiana, the center brings visitors whose spending supports local businesses. Its small and emerging business program connects local firms with project and bidding opportunities.
Extending Event Benefits into Communities
Repeat events reflect the lasting relationships NOENMCC builds with organizers. The International WorkBoat Show has been returning to New Orleans since 1979 and has been in the NOENMCC since 1993. The Water Environment Federation has returned ten times since 1992.
Maintaining that momentum requires continued investment. NOENMCC’s board has added 200 million dollars over five years to its original 557 million dollar capital plan, funding phased modernization. Renovations to all 140 meeting rooms, lobbies and pre-function spaces are expected to finish by January 2028, with work scheduled around events, including a busy fall projected to draw over 200,000 visitors by year-end. In September 2026, the center launched a permanent collection of more than 70 local artworks, with exterior improvements to follow. NOENMCC has continued to focus on sustainability and has also recertified for LEED Gold status.
Investment is also reshaping the surrounding area. The planned 1,000-room Omni Hotel across Convention Center Blvd. addresses event planners’ demand for a new headquarters hotel and could help NOENMCC attract about 27 additional events. The neighboring River District will add commercial space and community amenities, extending the center’s connection to the wider campus.
Its people remain central to this work. More than 450 employees serve across the center, and many have built lasting careers. In 2026, NOENMCC earned its 11th Regional Top Workplaces recognition and third National Top Workplaces USA recognition, both based on employee feedback.
At NOENMCC, facilities and technology are only part of the equation. It is the experience, dedication and commitment of the people behind them that shape each event, help organizers achieve their goals and bring New Orleans’ signature hospitality to life.
